My Hair besties series- E3: MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL Deep Repair Masque

I am a big fan of hair masques in general however some of them works amazing and some of them do nothing and basically are waste of money.
One of my all time favorite is "Macadamia Natural Oil deep repair masque". this line is a rather expensive hair care and I only used their masque ( have no idea about how the rest are).
Hair masques are mostly for deep conditioning.  after the regular shampoo, you put it all over the hair and wait for a couple of minutes; then rinse it with water.
Macadamia hair mask is really good one out there specially for dry and damaged hair. it is a combination of Macadamia, Argan, chamomile oils with tee tree, aloe and algae extract ( all that good stuff).before I cut my hair short I used it once a week since my hair ends at that point was very dry and damaged ; it made my hair silky, shinny and so soft and it also smells nice. but now I only  use it every 2 weeks or so.
Just keep in mind that it does not repair the hair and solve the breakage or something though, it makes the hair LOOK healthier. it makes the dry ends look softer.so there are still split ends there but less annoying ;)
I personally do not recommend using it more than once a week, it might make hair look hair greasy rather than healthy and shinny. also by using it more frequently, it may cause buildup in the hair which results in "not working anymore". so use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the build up and then back to use the masque. so the most important point is "do not over use". I noticed the change in my hair right after my first use. you can tell right away that it moisturizes your hair.

Some people think because it says Natural on the name this is a natural product. well, it is not. it is only because the oils are all natural but there is still bunch of other chemicals in there.
I  LOVE this product and highly recommend it :)
Hope this was helpfull for anyone looking for a good hair masque or hair treatment.
Wish you all a nice Tuesday :)

My Hair besties series- E2: Regular Trim

Different people have different choices when it comes to hair length.some people think hair ( women's) should be long and some people like me basically do not care what should be but what is fun and nice!
So far I had hair that was long enough to get to my waistline or as short as 1 cm. I don't care how my hair length is as long as it looks healthy and nice. even when my hair is short I do have regular trim every 2-3 months, and I will tell you why is important to get it trimmed:
On average hair grows about 0.5 inch ( 1.3 cm) every month,so it means in average your hair grows about 6 inch in year and typically hair should be trimmed every 2-3 months. if you are growing your hair long you could cut about half-inch every 2-3 months and still gain 3-4 inches each year. I know it is a slow process, but the half-inch you cut is the oldest part of your hair and most damaged part. they've been through so much (sun, wind, blow-drying,heat stylers,pony-tail holders, harsh shampoos, smog, pillows, and even poor diet) and are ready to retire. believe me even the half-inch cut makes a huge difference and you will be happy with the results.
I don't know if you heard this or not but some people think that if you trim your hair regularly, they grow faster which is NOT CORRECT; it will get rid of split ends and makes it healthier but does not effect its growth rate.
If you are not planning to change your hair style you could even trim your own hair. just do it section by section and cut only half-inch. the first hair trim is always the hardest part since you have to let go of your hair, but after that it will become a regular habit for having a smoother, healthier-looking hair.
So as I always said to myself :  hair ends are dead It's time to let them rest in peace ;)
Till next time :)

My Hair besties series- E1: use protection

Styling hair with heat stylers like blow-dry, curling iron or flat iron always gives the best results. but heat itself is not good for hair and could damage it because of several reasons:
Heat can dry out the internal moisture content of hair; it can also effect and disturb the natural proteins and oils in the hair.
All these damage could make hair more sensitive which could cause hair to split and break more easily.
So with this brief introduction it is fair to say that everyone needs to use hair protection when they use heat. I use it all the time even when I just drying my hair with a blow dry. I just spray a generous amount of my heat protector all over my hair and leave it for a few minutes to dry out and then use whatever heat device I am planning to use.

How heat protection products work!?
Well these products work by coating the hair with something that could protects them form high temperature. these products could be different silicones (cyclomethicone, amodimethicone, gum blends or anything ending with "cone"), mineral oils,.... but when I looked for it silicone based materials are much more suitable for this purpose because they have low thermal conductivity which means comparing to water and some mineral oil they transmit the heat to hair more slowly. meaning the hair temperature will  increase more slowly when coated with heat protection products so the water content of the hair, protein will stay less effected.

Is it necessary to go buy a separate product for heat protection?
The answer is not very easy. if you use hair conditioner before using heat stylers just look at its components and see if some heat protection materials are used. I personally do not like to use oil on my hair before using curling iron or flat iron because it looks like I am frying my hair then; so not a good situation :). I always check on the back of the package.
There are always some well priced heat protection products out there like TRESemmé,  Pantene,.... just a quick note that, I personally do not like "Redken  Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow-Dry Lotion" it kinda left my hair little crunchy rather that silky.

So here is my taught on hair heat protection, hope this was helpful .
till next time,
